Along with Jiro Inagaki and Takeshi Inomata, drummer Akira Ishikawa is one of the most important musicians in the jazz rock scene in Japan. He led groups such as Midnight Suns, The Gentures, Count Buffaloes, and produced countless jazz rock instrumental covers. Soul & Rock, released in 1969, was the first album under the name Count Buffalo. The group was made up of a variety of members, but the key to this album is the participation of saxophonist Takeru Muraoka and pianists Masahiko Sato and Hiromasa Suzuki. This album is a pillar in the history of Japanese jazz-rock!
